Memory Verse of the Week
"But if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them.
You might even be found opposing God." - Acts 5:39
Because of the power of God's Word, let us be encouraged to memorize it.
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you apply the verse to your life.
CalvaryEMC seeks to join God where He is working in Owen Sound and on
the World Wide Web.

Reflections
"How to be an overcomer in the midst of opposition"
Jesus said: "Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of
wolves,
so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves...You will be hated by all
for
My name's sake. But he one who endures to the end will be saved!"
- Matthew 10:16, 22
Many of the early Christians were thrown in jail. They were stoned and
beaten but they kept bouncing back. They never gave in and they never
quit. In fact, they rejoiced that they were counted worthy to suffer
dishonor
for the name of Jesus Christ (Acts 5:41). Jesus was their Lord!!!
When the enemy is coming against you in opposition, do you bounce back
or do you allow yourself to be beaten down and taken out of the battle?
We will face opposition, but we can learn to be overcomers in the midst
of it
if we will...
1. Recognize the Enemy and his tactics
a. Satan opposes an empowered, unified, purified and multiplied church
i. His desire is to annihilate the church
ii. We must be careful not to over-estimate or under-estimate Satan's
power
2. Revere God-Almighty
3. Resolve that you will be obedient to God and will continue to lift
up Jesus
4. Remember that God will ultimately triumph
5. Realize that we will suffer for the sake of Christ
"Soldiers of Christ, arise, and put your armor on,
Strong in the strength which God supplies thru His eternal Son
Strong in the Lord of Hosts, And in His mighty power
Who in the strength of Jesus trusts is more than conqueror.
Leave no unguarded place, no weakness of the soul,
Take every virtue, every grace and fortify the whole.
From strength to strength go on, wrestle and fight and pray.
Tread all the powers of darkness down, and win the well-fought day."
- Charles Wesley
What are the unguarded places in your lives? What are the weaknesses
of your soul? How have you given the enemy access to your life?
What lies have you believed?
You can be an overcomer in the midst of opposition if you will
embrace Jesus as Lord, resolve your personal and spiritual conflicts
and cultivate a lifestyle of righteousness.
Soldiers of Christ arise and put your armor on!!!
