Reflections

 "Living with a clear conscience" - Hebrews 9:1-23
Oswald Chamber's wrote "there is no heaven with a little corner of hell in it.  God is determined to make you pure and holy and right; He will not allow you to escape for one moment from the scrutiny of the Holy Spirit.  I'm not merely saved from hell, I'm made right for heaven - all through Jesus."

There's nothing more freeing than living with a clear conscience.  When we are right with God and right with others, we can lay our heads down and enjoy a good night's sleep.

What is conscience?  Conscience is the moral faculty designed to distinguish right from wrong.  The conscience is a person's internal alarm clock.   The conscience operates from the soul and mainly through the mind and that's why we need to be continually renewing our minds through truth.  You see, our consciences are not infallible, and they can become warped or weakened if not kept aligned by the infallible Word of God.  Therefore the conscience must be trained through applying the Word of God to our lives.

There are four kinds of conscience:
1.  The sacred conscience
2.  The soiled conscience
3.  The struggling conscience
4.  The seared conscience

Which one describes your conscience?  You don't want to ever get to the place where your conscience becomes seared.  So, how do you avoid getting there?  Through instant obedience.  The minute you hear the alarm, do what's right.  You have the Holy Spirit to empower you to do what's right.

"Who can ascend the hill of the Lord?  And who shall stand in His holy place?  He who has clean hands and a pure heart..." (Psalm 24:3-4a).

Allow the Holy Spirit to search your heart this morning.  God has yet to deny a broken and contrite heart.  Turn to Him this morning and allow His blood to cleanse every stain and every sin.  Walk in the light of His presence and you will experience His blood cleansing you and your fellowship will be sweet with God and with others.
