Memory Verse of the Week
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.."
- Jeremiah 29:11
Because of the power of God's Word, let us be encouraged to memorize it.
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you apply the verse to your life.
CalvaryEMC seeks to join God where He is working in Owen Sound and on
the World Wide Web.

Reflections
"When It's Okay to Brag" - 2 Cor. 11:16-33
Is it ever okay to brag? Jeremiah 9:23-25 says: "Thus says
the Lord:
Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast
in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let him who
boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me (that means to
personally and practically, directly discerning and recognizing God's
character), that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice,
and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I
delight, declares the Lord."
We can brag in the flesh or we can brag in the Lord. Bragging
in the flesh stems from pride and E.G.O. (Edging God Out) rather than
(Exalting God Only). J. Oswald Sanders in his classic book
called "Spiritual Leadership" said that "egotism is one of the
repulsive manifestations of pride. It is the practice of
thinking and speaking much of oneself, the habit of magnifying one's
attainments or importance. It leads one to consider everything in its
relation to himself rather than in relation to God and the welfare of
His people." When we brag in the Lord, we boast and glory in
Him.
The point: It's okay to brag when we brag in the Lord"
